My story resembles nearly every Bengali man’s life; apart from the fact that I got married to a girl I met on a matrimonial site. For someone who was pretty sceptical about finding a life partner online, things worked out pretty well. Soumita and I are celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary today and we are delighted!
This wouldn’t have been as nice as it is if not for Memoir – the best wedding planner in Kolkata, and some of the hardest working youths I have come to know. They took my wedding-day wishes and turned it into an extravaganza which made my celebration bigger and vibrant.
The Bengali wedding is an elegant set of rituals that are best experienced in person. I would have preferred to keep everything minimal but I realised this is a one-time event and probably the biggest thing in the life of both a man and a woman. I started looking for options and found Memoir to be decent event planners. I knew what I wanted so I signed them up for everything that was required on my big day. They offered me a surprisingly reasonable quote and an efficient blueprint of the event’s arrangements. It involved almost everything, from wedding decorations and catering to photography.
I was short on time since I had to manage a dozen other things. “We have time, please leave this to us”, I remember them telling me. It worried me that I would still have to deal with them over the phone or end up doing some of the arrangements myself, but choosing them to manage the event completely freed me from the intense runabouts. My family and I had more time to deal with the internal matters while Memoir started working on making my wedding affair a happening one. One noteworthy feature of Memoir is that they follow the definition of communication effectively. I was updated of the progress regularly and my additional inputs were always welcome.
Their decoration ideas were brilliant, some of which were my favourites like the mandap, which looked utterly majestic. It had the 21st-century vibe but was crafted traditionally. The entrance to the venue was nothing short of royal. They cleverly avoided the old, simple design of flowers and drapes and went for a more rustic approach that looked spectacular.
“The entrance design is totally your responsibility. I want the venue to look magnificent” I had told them. I would have paid less attention to the entrance, but the way Memoir delivered originality amazed me.
The best part about working with them was that they brought everything new to the plate and were still able to maintain the traditional ambience I expected. I remember the food being specifically exquisite and it greatly complimented all the visual splendour. They seriously knew how to arrange all the programs and it gave me the comfort of enjoying my marriage contently.
Their wedding photography crew did a great job. Every moment and every mini-event was perfectly captured and most of the personalised photos does make us look like we were in a photoshoot. Overall, a Bengali wedding went perfect! Memoir made no irrelevant promises and was rather swift in their work. Soumita and I talk about that day a lot.
“One of these days, let’s get Memoir to set up our next big event” she tells me. Memoir turned my wishes into reality and gave me a wedding to remember, and I’m glad I chose them for my grand event.
